What is a Property Deed?

A property deed is a legal document that officially transfers ownership of real estate from one party to another.

It serves as legal evidence of the title to the property, outlining the rights and interests of the owner.

Deeds are critical in real estate transactions because they provide a clear and enforceable record of property ownership, ensuring that ownership rights are protected and can be verified.

In modern times, property deeds can either be electronic or physical copies.

The most common type of property deed is a Warranty deed, providing a guarantee that the grantor (the seller) has clear title to the property and the right to sell it. If any issues arise regarding ownership or claims on the property, the grantor is legally responsible for resolving them.
